Lenten Services

Ash Wednesday, February 18 @ 6 pm

We'll take time to consider the significance of the Lenten season ahead as a preparation for new life at Easter.  Please join us for a service that calls us to personal change and transformation. An Imposition of Ashes will be offered as you leave the service; you can decide to receive ashes on your hand or your forehead.  If weather creates any challenges - watch for another opportunity to receive the 'Imposition of Ashes' to mark the beginning of your Lenten journey.

On the Wednesdays that follow, please join us for study services at 6 pm, based on The Bible With and Without Jesus. Bible scholars and teachers Amy-Jill Levine and Marc Zvi Brettler take readers on a guided tour of the most popular Hebrew Bible passages quoted in the New Testament to show what the texts meant in their original contexts and then how Jews and Christians, over time, understood those same texts differently. We’ll watch a video presentation by Dr. Levine each week, and share discussion during a short service, start February 25 through March 25.

Also: on Tuesdays of Lent- Upper Room Study - During Lent, please consider taking time for more Bible study - or creating a practice of daily devotions.  The Upper Room - a devotional guide of the UMC - is ideally suited for that.  You could begin by attending a 6-week study using the Upper Room on Tuesdays @ 1:30 pm led by Diane Lohr.  It's an opportunity to discuss how everyone thinks differently, listen for what the Holy Spirit may be saying to you - and pray together.  Please sign up in the office to let Diane know you are coming, beginning Tuesday, February 17.
