Sacraments
Baptism
In the United Methodist Church, baptism is 'an outward and visible sign' of God's grace - love and forgiveness. We baptize people of any age, ready to commit to following Jesus. By working with the pastor, parents may make that commitment for children too young to answer for themselves, with the understanding they will do all they can to raise their child with faith, until that child can confirm their faith for themselves. Please contact the pastor with questions about opportunities for baptism.
Communion
At Lakeshore, we currently celebrate the Sacrament of Holy Communion in our services the first Sunday of each month. Everyone involved in the service – both in-person and online – is invited to receive the sacrament. If you usually watch the service online, you are welcome to stop by church to pick-up pre-packaged communion elements in our church office to use as you watch the online service. You are also welcome to share the sacrament by using what you have available at home.
You need not be a member of Lakeshore to receive communion within our services. We believe communion is a means of receiving God’s grace for people of all ages. In United Methodist churches, we generally use grape juice and bread as communion elements. Gluten-free wafers are available for persons experiencing gluten sensitivity.
